Pregnancy - is a special period in woman's life. During pregnancy numerous proccesses occur in the body such as production of hormone relaxin which release all ligaments of the body, reorganize hormonal, cardiovascular and other systems. Therefore it is very important to ensure that all body systems works in harmony in accordance to each other. Physiotherapy would be a splendid choice to maintain this balance.

There is no doubt that every pregnant woman facing some challenges such as back, iliosacrum pain due to the permanently changing pelvis position or swollen feet.

During pregnancy it is very essential to keep physical wealth (if there is any contraindication from the doctor) in order to assure valuable blood circulation which brings vital substance (oxygen and nutrients) both for woman and fetus.
Therefore, to sustain good health condition and joyful waiting period, physiotherapy session, massage or kinesiotapping would be one of the best choice for pregnant woman.

Research indicated 1,2 that pregnant women who are following physiotherapy sessions or having adequate physical load, massages or kinesiotaping:

  1. reduce risk for gestational diabetes,
  2. the brain of infants are more developed for those whose mothers had physical activities or followed physiotherapy sessions during pregnancy due to efficient oxygen supply for brains ( in comparison with pregnant women who did not follow physiotherapy sessions or did not had any physical load). This could help newborn develop language and motor skills more quickly,2
  3. reduce fatigue and improve posture,
  4. reduce stress and improve mood,
  5. build more stamina needed for labor and delivery,
  6. improve weight gain for foetus,
  7. during massage sessions physiotherapist reduce tension in the muscles which caused additional pain in the back, shoulder blade or legs,
  8. kinesiotapping, which is a non-medical cure to reduce pain, helps to diminuish pain cause by pregnancy factors.
