Postnatal physiotherapy
Normally women after giving birth suffer a musculoskeletal pain. The physiotherapy treatment can relieve several musculoskeletal problems by applying a range of treatment techniques.
As a consequence of giving birth, some women suffer a pelvic floor muscle damage which encourages a pelvic floor dysfunction. During postnatal rehabilitation a client is taught how correctly re-train pelvic floor in order to recover muscle strength and control.
The other practice is focused on a recovery of physical strenght. A physiotherapist assesses client’s needs and goals in order to help to establish an exercise programme that steadily helps to regain pre-pregnancy levels of activity and fitness.
In fact, guidelines taken from The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists state that: “Benefits of postpartum exercise include improved cardiovascular fitness, facilitated weight loss, raised positive mood, reduced anxiety, reduced depression and more energy”.
